Prof. Wallace Alves Martins

Prof. Wallace A. Martins was born in Brazil in 1983. He received the Electronics Engineering degree (Cum Laude) from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, in 2007, and the M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ in 2009 and 2011, respectively. In 2008, he was a Research Visitor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Notre Dame, IN, USA. From 2010 to 2013, he was with the Department of Control and Automation Industrial Engineering of CEFET/RJ. Dr. Martins is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (DEL/Poli) at UFRJ. He is also co-author of the book "Block Transceivers: OFDM and Beyond", published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. His research interests are in the fields of digital communication with focus on multicarrier systems, digital signal processing for machine learning and adaptive systems, acoustic-based localization of sources and sensors, and underwater wireless communications. Prof. Martins received the Best Student Paper Award from EURASIP at EUSIPCO-2009, Glasgow, Scotland, and the Best D.Sc. Thesis Award from Capes, Brazil, 2012. He is currently a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and of SBrT (Brazilian Telecommunication Society).
